Live Webinar: Gender-Based Violence and Its Impact on Children and Families
June 17 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
This focused webinar, part of our Tribal webinar series, examines universal dynamics of gender-based violence, including intimate partner abuse, sexual assault, and trafficking. Participants will explore how these issues impact children and families across all communities, and the various forms of relational power and control. Drawing from diverse cultural perspectives and evidence-based practices, learn multidimensional approaches to identify, address, and counter gender-based violence. Participants will leave with practical tools to help them recognize gender-based violence and respond effectively in culturally appropriate ways.
Presenter: Louise Padron is a Oneida Nation Family Services supervisor who supports their foster care, kinship, and parenting programs. She spent her prior eight years as a gender-based violence victim advocate specializing in youth, legal, and housing advocacy. She is a University of Wisconsin-Green Bay graduate with a bachelor’s in psychology and human development, and obtained her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Lakeland University. She is a bio mom to two, a bonus mom to one, and a citizen of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin.
