Adoptees United (AU) is a national nonprofit founded in 2019 with an unwavering commitment to equality for all adopted people in the United States. Their work focuses on three interconnected issues: identity, U.S. citizenship, and equal rights for adult adoptees — including the right to obtain original birth certificates and secure citizenship for intercountry adoptees denied it under current immigration law. AU tracks and analyzes adoptee rights legislation in all 50 states and Congress, and operates a free Citizenship Clinic for intercountry adoptees navigating legal barriers.
