FASD & the Big 3: Raging, Lying & Stealing
misdiagnosed. Behaviors like raging, lying, and stealing are frequently read as intentional misconduct — but they may actually be brain-based, rooted in differences in memory, impulse control, emotional regulation, and executive functioning shaped by prenatal alcohol and other prenatal exposures. This free webinar invites caregivers, educators, and professionals to examine these behaviors through a trauma-informed, neurobehavioral lens, moving from “won’t” to “can’t” and finding
practical ways to respond that build connection rather than conflict.
Participants will leave with the ability to define FASD and explain how prenatal alcohol exposure affects brain development; .to recognize the difference between willful behavior and brain-based behavior, shifting the frame from “won’t” to “can’t”; and to apply trauma-responsive, neurobehavioral strategies to real situations at home, school, and in the community — including specific, practical tools for responding to raging, lying, and stealing.
This session is led by Barb Clark, founder of FASD Mosaic and a nationally recognized speaker, coach, and trainer who translates brain science into real-world strategies grounded in connected, relational parenting. Barb brings a rare, dual perspective to this work: she is an adult living with a Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and an adoptive parent of five adult children, including one with FASD. She is also the author of Raising Kids and Teens with FASD: Advice and Strategies to Help Your Family Thrive, and she brings honesty, humor, and hope to every conversation about behavior and connection.
Whether you’re a relative caregiver, a foster or adoptive parent, or a professional supporting families navigating complexities, this free session offers concrete strategies you can use right away.
Licensed foster parents will receive 2.0 training credits for participation in this webinar. Each individual participant must register separately to receive credit. Questions? Call us at 1-800-762-8063 or email info@wifamilyconnectionscenter.org
