National Kinship Care Month

According to the Annie E. Casey Foundation Kids Count Data Center, across the nation, 4% of all children – more than 2.6 million children – are in kinship care. Each year in September, the Coalition celebrates National Kinship Care Month. Kinship care refers to grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, adult siblings, members of tribes and clans, and other adults with whom they have a family-like relationship, lovingly providing caregiving support to children and youth.  All of us at the Coalition appreciate kinship caregivers for providing care and support to the children you welcome into your homes with open arms and loving hearts! Parenting is a challenging endeavor for all parents. It can be even more challenging when your previously established role in your family changes from grandmother to mother, uncle to father, etc.

All families need access to resources and support services during their parenting journeys. Please know that the Resource Specialists at the Coalition are here to support and connect you to parenting resources and support services in your communities. We can be reached by calling us at 414-475-1246 or 800-762-8063. You can also send us an email at info@coalitionforcyf.org

Thank you to all of the caregivers out there! We appreciate you for committing to being there for children and youth who need a safe, secure, and loving home. You are all truly making a positive difference in the lives of these children and youth!
